Overview

The Teach Mississippi Certificate is an alternate route licensure program designed to equip students with the essential knowledge, skills, and competencies for effective teaching in secondary education. The 12-hour program is offered online and leads toward a renewable Mississippi teacher's license for grades 7-12 in the chosen subject area, including a 3-hour internship in a secondary classroom. It is designed for students with backgrounds outside of education who aspire to teach in secondary settings.

Requirements

Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA on the last 60 hours of their BS/BA coursework and must have passed their content area PRAXIS. Applicants submit an online application, a statement of purpose, three letters of recommendation and official transcripts. Apply by August 1 for the Fall semester.
