Program Overview:
The Equipping Future Entrepreneurs (EFE) program aims to bridge the gap between research and entrepreneurship.
Registration is open on December 1 to January 29, 2027 with the cohort being announced on February 5th.
Program Goals:
- Empower researchers to translate promising ideas and technologies into marketable products.
- Foster an entrepreneurial mindset among participants.
- Provide resources for technology transfer and commercialization.
- Prepare participants for project launch or licensing.
Program Sessions:
Our program consists of five interactive sessions designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the world of research entrepreneurship.
Tentative Spring 2027 Schedule:
February 12, 12:30 to 2 PM – Workshop 1; Welcome, and Business 101 - Finding your Brand or Customer
February 26, 12:30 to 2 PM – Workshop 2; Research like an Entrepreneur – Navigate Patents, Licensing, Trademarks, and Conflict of Interest
March 19, 12:30 to 2 PM – Workshop 3; Launching a company – How to get started and secure funding
April 9, 12:30 to 2 PM – Workshop 4; Learning about Starkville resources and networking
April 23, 12:30 to 2 PM – Workshop 5; Perfecting business pitches – how to successfully commercialize research opportunities.
To receive the certificate of completion, students must attend at least 4 of 5 sessions.
Eligibility:
- Master’s or PhD students enrolled in the Spring 2027 semester
